Situated at the head of spectacular Loch Leven, nestling between the Mamore hills and the Pap of Glencoe, this splendid rural village in the heart of the Scottish Highlands is the ideal base for touring this unspoilt area of outstanding natural beauty.
Enjoying a central location in Kinlochleven with exceptional views within this Highland community, these holiday apartments and glamping pods have been lovingly created to provide superior comfortable accommodation within easy walking distance from village amenities and the world-famous West Highland Way. All our properties benefit from spectacular views.
Kinlochleven boasts the world’s largest indoor ice-climbing facilities at the Ice Factor. The village offers visitors a real taste of the Highlands and is a wonderful base for visiting Glencoe, Oban and Fort William (the Outdoor Capital of the UK) – a renowned region for hill walking and mountain climbing in some of Scotland’s highest peaks – a Munro-bagger’s paradise!
We provide well-maintained, fully furnished, high quality, affordable self catering holiday accommodation - two self-contained one-bedroom apartments which sleep up to three adults, and en suite glamping pods which sleep two. All bedding, all bed linen, towels, electricity and wifi are included in the price, along with free, on-site, secure parking. We provide a Welcome folder which lists local emergency information, where to eat, what to do, instructions for the use of appliances, and many, MANY!, local walks ranging from "Easy" to "What are you thinking of!", along with a few extras to make sure you feel welcome, and won't want to leave!
LEVEN & LINNHE APARTMENTS
Two semi-detached, self-catering apartments (Leven & Linnhe Apartments, named after the local lochs) opened in 2005 and refurbished and renovated last year. Guests have sole use of their apartment via a private entrance fitted with a key safe box for easy key location.
Each self-contained, private apartment is on the ground floor with no internal stairs, only entrance ramps and can sleep up to three adults (or two adults and two kids). There is central heating (via electric radiators) and plenty of hot water. The bedroom has either a king size or two twin beds (please state preference when booking), and the living area has a fold down sofa-bed. There is also a travel cot available on request. We request a minimum two night stay.
NEVIS, COE AND ETIVE PODS
Our Pods are private, secluded, yet spacious and comfortable detached en-suite glamping pods sited next to the peaceful River Leven, within the village of Kinlochleven, which is on the West Highland Way. With spectacular views due West along Loch Leven, and the Mamores to your right, they have the perfect picturesque location. Each pod is accessed via a couple of steps, and Nevis is heated with a plug-in oil-filled radiator, and Coe has underfloor heating, and both hot water taps are automatic. Each Pod has a small double bed and a fold-down single sofabed, and we provide all bedding, bed linen and towels. There is a TV & DVD player with remote control and a range of DVDs, a table and two chairs, a microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle, crockery and cutlery for two, and all wi-fi, electricity and hot water is included. A travel cot is available on request. Coe Pod became ready to go in August 2019 and we are currently fitting out our third Pod, Etive Pod.
WHY NEVIS, COE AND ETIVE PODS?
We chose to name the pods after the local glens – Glen Nevis, Glen Coe and Glen Etive. All three compete to be the most spectacular, and all are areas of outstanding natural beauty. To our North lie the Mamores, a ten mile ridge to Glen Nevis, which includes ten Munros and Ben Nevis. To the South, we have the Aonach Eagach ridge along the A82 in Glen Coe, which then passes Buchaille Etive Mhor through Alltnafeadh to the Glen Etive road, just before the Kings House Hotel and Glencoe Mountain Resort.
(EX-) KRT GARAGE
The building which houses Leven and Linnhe Apartments, and our house to the rear, used to be the Kinlochleven Road Transport Garage. This was where all the trucks that transported the aluminium from the factory were serviced and repaired. We bought the old building in 2004 and renovated it to provide a residential dwelling house and two self-catering holiday apartments. Many locals were interested in the new family and wanted to know what our plans for the building were, as many of them had worked on this very spot in years gone by. We wanted to keep a sense of the building’s past so retained as much exterior as possible, and kept the original hand-painted sign for Oak Apartment’s bedroom wall.
